Q: How do I go about making an appointment?
Just call our office or email us under the “request an appointment” icon. One of our friendly office staff will return your call within one business day.

Q: What do I need to bring to the first appointment?

Just print out the required forms for 1st appointments. You can also bring a full set of xrays that were taken in the last three years or bitewing xrays that were taken in the last year. We will also need a list of recent prescription medication that your child is taking. Finally, if you have dental insurance, we will also need your insurance card or number to verify eligibility.

Q: What insurances do you accept?

We accept most insurance companies. Just call our front office staff to find out the details, as all insurance plans have different coverages.

Q: Do you use silver (mercury) filling material?

No. We at Children's Dental of Waltham use only tooth colored (composite) filling material.

Q: How long do most appointments last?
Most appointments range from 30 to 90 minutes, depending on what is being done.

Q: How will I know how much my insurance plan will pay and how much I will be responsible for? After your initial exam visit, we will prepare an estimate based on your treatment needs and insurance plan. Given that some insurance’s will pay at different rates, however, this number is only an estimate, but will be very close to the actual amount.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

Q: How old should my child be to come to the dentist?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a child’s first dental visit should be scheduled when the first tooth comes in and no later than their first birthday.

Q: Are parents allowed in the dental operatories during treatment?
No. We have a strict policy at our office that only patients are allowed in the rooms while dental treatment is being rendered. This allows us to have one on one interaction with the child and gives the patient a better chance at having a positive dental experience. However, we do allow parents in the hygiene rooms at the child’s initial exam appointment.
